British singer-songwriter Sarah Louise is turning a period of personal change into pop music with her new single, “Different Kind of Girl,” a track centered on how an unexpected connection helped reshape her confidence and sense of self.

The song marks a shift in Louise’s sound, pairing her singer-songwriter approach with warm synths, organic instrumentation and contemporary pop production by Neal Handforth. Rather than framing the track as a conventional love song, Louise focuses on what can happen when another person changes how someone sees themselves.

“‘Different Kind of Girl’ is the moment you realize someone has changed you in ways you didn’t expect. It’s soft, honest, and shaped by real life – the beginning of a new chapter for me,” Louise said.

The single grew out of a period when Louise said she was experiencing changes both personally and professionally. Its themes of vulnerability and self-discovery reflect her own struggles with confidence and expectations.

“The idea for ‘Different Kind of Girl’ began during a period when I was changing not just as an artist, but as a person. I’d spent years doubting myself and trying to fit into what I thought people expected of me. Then, someone came into my life who saw something in me that I couldn’t yet see in myself,” she said.

That experience became the foundation for a song about recognizing qualities that were already there rather than changing to meet another person’s expectations.

“It wasn’t about becoming someone different for another person; it was about discovering the confidence to become the person I’d always been underneath,” Louise said.

Musically, “Different Kind of Girl” combines expressive melodies and pop hooks with acoustic and organic elements associated with Louise’s earlier work. The production gives the track a more polished contemporary-pop direction while retaining the storytelling at the center of her songwriting.

The release follows a series of milestones for Louise, including multiple singles that have reached No. 1 on iTunes charts in the United Kingdom and Europe. Her song “Sunflower” has generated more than 22 million views on Instagram, helping introduce her music to a wider international audience.

Louise has also performed at Nashville’s Bluebird Café and at festivals, theaters and other venues across the United Kingdom.

With “Different Kind of Girl,” Louise places personal growth at the center of her latest release, using a changing relationship with herself as the starting point for the next stage of her music.
