Love Spells, the music project of Houston-born singer Sir Taegen Harris, has released his debut album, “LOVE IS THE LAW,” through RCA Records, marking the start of a new chapter that pairs a full-length release with an international tour.

The 12-track album arrived alongside the music video for “Don’t Touch,” directed and choreographed by Shay Latukolan. The visual centers on dance inside a half-filled bar, reflecting a recurring theme throughout the record.

Recorded with producers Danny Parra, Boy Deco, Brad Hale, Rodaidh McDonald, Alex Craig and Rick Nowels, “LOVE IS THE LAW” draws inspiration from Harris’ experiences at Numbers, a longtime Houston nightclub known as a gathering place for alternative communities.

The album incorporates influences from 1970s, 1980s and New Wave music while blending them with the artist’s atmospheric pop sound.

“Our lives revolve around love. It governs nearly every aspect of human life,” Harris said of the album. “‘LOVE IS THE LAW’ is a grand declaration. It’s in your face, and there’s nothing to hide. The album title means exactly what it says – to hold love above everything else. That message is something I’ll declare for the rest of my life.”

The release follows recent singles “Maybe I Still Love You,” “Keep It To Yourself,” “Crutch” and “Don’t Touch.”

Harris also discussed the album during an interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe. Apple Music is expected to release in-studio performances of two songs from the album next week.

Harris’ “LOVE IS THE LAW World Tour” began with a performance at Chicago’s House of Blues before continuing with appearances at Lollapalooza, Pukkelpop, All Points East and Rock en Seine. The tour also includes headline shows across North America and Europe, with several dates already sold out. The run is scheduled to conclude with two performances at The Roxy in Los Angeles on Oct. 16 and 17.

At 18, Harris began pursuing music while experiencing homelessness in Houston. He later relocated to California, where he worked to develop his sound before returning to Houston. A subsequent invitation from Kevin Abstract to contribute to the 2025 album “Blush” connected Harris with collaborators including Dominic Fike and Deb Never. The experience led him back to Los Angeles, where he completed “LOVE IS THE LAW,” his first full-length album.
