Indie rock duo Hovvdy has released “You Will Go Far,” the latest preview of its upcoming album “Big World,” offering listeners another look at the band’s evolving songwriting ahead of the record’s Aug. 14 release through Arts & Crafts.

The single arrives alongside a music video directed by Michael Rees and follows previously released tracks “Try Try Try” and “Blast,” both of which introduced the band’s sixth studio album earlier this summer.

“Big World” comes after the duo’s 2024 self-titled album, which earned Pitchfork’s Best New Album distinction. This time, Hovvdy said it set out to create a more streamlined record while embracing a different creative process.

“The last record felt like such a generous offering: a double-album, deeply personal, you can literally hear me crying on some songs,” Charlie Martin said. “With this one, we wanted to take on the challenge of making something more concise and to the point, and give the fans something that feels like a shorter but more exciting ride.”

According to the band, the new album reflects a shift from direct emotional storytelling toward songs that leave more room for interpretation while exploring identity and perspective through a collection of interconnected tracks.

Recorded during several sessions in Nashville and Asheville in fall 2025, “Big World” also marked a departure from Hovvdy’s usual songwriting approach. Rather than entering the studio with fully developed demos, Martin and Will Taylor brought instrumental ideas and completed the songs together in real time.

“When it comes to the music, there’s literally never questions between Charlie and me, only answers,” Taylor said. “We can always show up and not have to worry about the music, and that continues to amaze me.”

The sessions reunited the duo with longtime collaborator and producer Ben Littlejohn, who helped shape what the band described as a sonically immediate but emotionally ambiguous album. The 12-track project reflects on where the band has been while looking ahead to what comes next.

Hovvdy has already begun supporting the new material on the road. The duo recently wrapped an East Coast run with Bleachers and will open for Wilco during a series of European dates in August before launching its own North American headlining tour in October and November.

The fall tour will include stops in Seattle, Los Angeles, Chicago, Toronto, Nashville and more, with Emma Ogier joining on October dates and Christian Lee Hutson supporting November performances.

“Big World” features 12 songs, including the previously released “Blast,” “Try Try Try” and the new single “You Will Go Far.” The album is scheduled for release Aug. 14.
