Singer-songwriter Alyssa Gallarneau is drawing on experiences that span continents, family traditions and personal reflection with the release of her debut album, “For The Record.”

The project, released through MackLife Records and distributed by Stem, brings together songs inspired by love, faith, longing and self-discovery. Written over several months in multiple countries, the album reflects Gallarneau’s effort to create songs that function like scenes from a film.

“I approached many songs as if they were a scene in a film,” Gallarneau said. “I wanted the album to reward repeated listens, and hopefully reveal new details each time through.”

The album marks a significant milestone for the Chicago- and Bloomington-based artist, whose music blends pop, folk and singer-songwriter influences. Drawing inspiration from settings ranging from her home in the Midwest to the mountains of Mexico during a mission trip, Gallarneau uses visual imagery and symbolism to tell stories rooted in personal experience.

The project began taking shape in 2025 after artist Mark Morrison introduced Gallarneau to British producer Ian Barter, whose previous credits include Amy Winehouse, Paloma Faith, Dermot Kennedy and Rhys Lewis.

Following what Gallarneau described as an immediate creative connection, she traveled to London twice to record the album in Barter’s garden studio. The pair also bonded through their shared faith, which became part of the creative process behind the record.

Several songs released ahead of the album generated momentum online. The first single, “Love Business (Sha-Boom),” accumulated more than 2.5 million views on TikTok and appeared on multiple Apple Music editorial playlists, including Today’s Hits, New in Pop, Future Hits and New Music Daily.

A second single, “SoHo,” followed in March and attracted nearly 1 million TikTok views, while “Consider This The End” was released in May.

Among the album’s centerpiece tracks is “I Don’t Want To Think About You,” a song Gallarneau wrote with her older sister, Brittany Gallarneau, a pilot who recently joined American Airlines.

The song explores the tension of trying to move on from someone who remains constantly on the mind. Aviation imagery plays a central role in the track, reflecting the sisters’ upbringing in a family of pilots.

“We were inspired by the push and pull dynamic of not wanting to think about the person you can’t stop thinking about,” Gallarneau said. “It’s the song you listen to as your flight takes off, except the person you wanted to show up for you arrives at the gate too late.”

Their shared interests in aviation and music have intersected before. Regional carrier Envoy Air previously featured “SoHo” across its platforms alongside appearances from both sisters.

Other songs on the album include “Willow Tree,” “Ocean Air” and “All’s Fair in Love & War,” which continue the project’s focus on storytelling and emotional reflection.

Gallarneau has steadily expanded her audience through live performances across the United States. An MTV-featured performer, she has toured with a seven-piece band and appeared at venues and events including Milwaukee Summerfest, House of Blues Chicago, New York Fashion Week, The NOW Arena, Joe’s on Weed St. and The Bluebird.

With “For The Record,” Gallarneau brings together those experiences into a debut album that combines cinematic songwriting, polished production and personal storytelling shaped by travel, faith and family connections.
