The red carpet at the 2025 Academy Awards wasn’t just about honoring film. It doubled as a visual runway for the beauty trends set to dominate the year. From radiant complexions to daring brows and revived hairstyles, the evening revealed what the world can expect to see on runways, social feeds and sidewalks alike.
Among those paying close attention was Livia Gueissaz, 34, a candidate for Miss Europe Continental 2025. Representing Brazil, Gueissaz views these moments as more than entertainment. They’re guides to help her craft a confident, competitive image.
“The 2025 Oscars showcased striking trends, from minimalism to bleached brows—beauty inspirations set to define the year,” Gueissaz said.
One of the most noticeable trends was minimalist makeup. But it wasn’t about skipping steps. It was about intention—highlighting natural features with soft touches rather than heavy coverage. Stars walked the red carpet with luminous skin, cream-based blush and a dewy finish that caught the light in all the right places.

“I love this approach because it enhances every facial feature without excess. For important events, I always seek a balance between natural elegance and sophistication, and this trend reinforces exactly that,” Gueissaz said.
The “skin-first” trend focused on health and glow, with many makeup artists forgoing powder altogether and sticking to lightweight formulas. The result was a youthful, polished look that photographed well and felt fresh.
Another trend that made headlines—both for its boldness and divisiveness—was bleached eyebrows. It’s a look that can soften or sharpen a face depending on how it’s styled, and several celebrities used it to make a memorable impact.
“I admit that this look doesn’t work for everyone, but when done well, it can create an incredible effect. In my case, I prefer more defined eyebrows that match my hair tone, but I admire those who dare and bring new possibilities to beauty. Who knows? In a more conceptual proposal, I might give it a try,” she said.
For Gueissaz and other pageant hopefuls, the visual message matters. Bleached brows won’t replace her go-to look, but she recognizes the artistry behind the decision.

Hair also took a front seat this year, especially when elevated by accessories. From glittering clips to subtle adornments, the Oscars proved that small details can bring sophistication.
“I always say that a good hair accessory can transform any look, and we saw at the Oscars how this can be done elegantly. Lupita Nyong’o, for example, opted for a bun adorned with pearls, creating a sophisticated and timeless look. I love incorporating these elements into my looks, especially on special occasions. At Miss Europe Continental, every detail matters, and choosing the right hairstyle makes all the difference in creating a striking look,” she said.
Hair accessories weren’t an afterthought. They became the focal point. Whether on an updo or accenting loose waves, the message was clear: a thoughtfully chosen detail can elevate an entire appearance.
Alongside accessories, the reinvented bob cut made a noticeable return. Unlike the structured bobs of the past, this year’s versions had volume, bounce and effortless movement. Halle Berry’s bob, with flipped ends and soft layering, stood out as a modern, wearable style.

“I am passionate about haircuts that add personality and highlight the face’s shape, and the bob is one of my favorites. Depending on the event, I like to alternate between long and medium-length hair, and this voluminous, bouncy bob is definitely on my inspiration list,” Gueissaz said.
The resurgence of the bob marked a broader shift toward adaptable, expressive styles. For women like Gueissaz, who navigate photo ops, competitions and press appearances, a haircut that can flex with the occasion is a must.
These trends, whether bold or understated, are expected to shape beauty standards across editorial shoots, commercial campaigns and everyday routines. For contestants preparing to take international stages, they also serve as style benchmarks.
“These trends reflect much of what we will see throughout the year, and as a Miss Europe Continental 2025 candidate, Livia Gueissaz is always keeping up with every detail in the world of fashion and beauty to bring out the best in her styling choices,” the event’s style team said in a statement.
Gueissaz agrees. Representing Brazil, she said, means showing the best of her country’s creativity and elegance, down to every brushstroke and hairstyle.
“I can’t wait to put these inspirations into practice and showcase to the world the elegance and style of Brazilian women,” she concluded.
As the dust settles from the Oscars and beauty brands race to replicate the looks, one thing is clear: the trends of 2025 aren’t about transformation for the sake of it. They’re about refining, expressing and owning the spotlight in your own way.
